Infusion Facial Therapy

Mesotherapy is a minimally invasive procedure in which serums containing a specific blend of active ingredients are injected into the skin using tiny needles or by micro-needling,

Different cocktails of vitamins, minerals, amino acids, botanicals and hyaluronic acid are used to help improve a variety of conditions including pigmentation, acne scarring, dull and dehydrated skin, poor skin tone, ageing, cellulite and hair loss.

Mesotherapy also stimulates the skin’s production of collagen and elastin, leading to a more hydrated, brighter, fresher and more youthful complexion.

Everything you need to know about Mesotherapy

Mesotherapy can be used on almost any area of the body, although the majority of our treatments are targeting the face, neck and décolletage.

Mesotherapy was first pioneered in France in 1952, initially as a treatment to help relieve pain from rheumatism and sports injuries, and quickly gained popularity around the world.

More recently, mesotherapy has been embraced by medical aesthetic clinics for the improvement of a variety of skin conditions by administering vital ingredients required by the skin for health, repair, rejuvenation, pigmentation, cellulite and hair loss. As these are placed directly in the skin where they are needed, they do not need to penetrate the skin barrier which can block the action of topical cosmeceuticals, means it is more precise and smaller doses can be used.

Depending on the specific cocktail used, mesotherapy can also help to improve blood flow and flush out toxins. Despite mesotherapy being first introduced in the 1950s, there are very few clinical studies providing evidence of its effectiveness. This is in part due to different practitioners using different ingredients and doses in their mixtures and due to differences in how it is administered.

Mesotherapy has been performed for nearly 70 years and has an excellent safety profile. Prior to treatment, a medical history will be taken to ensure there are no specific risks and any allergies identified.

The needles used for mesotherapy are the size of a hair and treatment may be slightly uncomfortable but not usually painful. We can apply a topical anaesthetic cream before the treatment if this is required. Treatment takes about 30 minutes to complete.

It is normal to have a slightly reddened complexion after treatment which usually settles by the end of the day, although may last up to 48 hours.

During the procedure, there may be a little bleeding and there is occasionally some bruising that develops. As the procedure is quite superficial in the skin, if bruising develops, it is usually quite mild.

There may be some swelling after the treatment or sometimes this may develop the following morning, this will settle quickly without any intervention. Further effects can include some skin sensitivity, itching, acne breakouts and small bumps present on the skin. Rarely, mesotherapy can lead to skin infections, pigmentation change (lighter or darker), scarring and allergic reactions.

After treatment, the skin will look a little pink and there may be a little swelling although as mesotherapy is minimally invasive, most people can return to their normal activities immediately after treatment.

Improvements are generally seen over the following weeks as mesotherapy works at the cellular level and several treatments are usually required to provide desired results. The mesotherapy product used will be discussed during the initial consultation and will be tailored to the problem being addressed.

We generally recommend a course of 6-8 treatments at 2 weekly intervals and then a maintenance every 6-12 months. We often recommend combining mesotherapy with an adjunctive treatment during the same session to optimise the results. Mesotherapy works synergistically with several of our other rejuvenation procedures including photodynamic therapy (LED), ultrasound and radiofrequency.
